Room Makeover

Jan 20, 2024

This room had been neglected over the years and as an interim measure the cracks in walls and ceiling were filled in and then room painted white. However, as time passed it became obvious that a more robust approach was needed. Essentially the room was taken back to the plasterwork and the advice of a plasterer was sought. The ceiling plasterboard was of poor quality so this was boarded over with new plasterboard, the cracks in the wall were repaired and everything received a coat of skim. Originally the room had coving but this also was cracked in multiple places, decision was taken to remove which was considerable more work that anticipated.

The display cabinet was constructed from a number of IKEA units which were sanded and painted. The base units were screwed together and topped with a MDF sheet painted to match. The top portion, we described as an aircraft wing, was constructed using plywood, soft wood and a length of aluminium angle. Dimmable LED lights were fitted also ws2812 strip provided some colourful uplighting.
